Dean, School of Business
The Office of the Provost seeks applications for the Dean of the School of Business for a 3-year renewable term, with an expected start date of January, 2014. The Dean of the School of Business reports directly to the Provost of the University and Chief Academic Officer and serves as a member of the Provost Executive Committee. The candidate must have at least 5 years of experience in an administrative or executive leadership position in an institution of higher education and a related terminal degree. S/he must be a dynamic and visionary leader with a strong academic background, training and experience in business or a related field. S/he will have experience in strategic planning, assessment for institutional improvement, budgeting and finance. The Dean should demonstrate his/her record of success in recruitment, retention and resource acquisition.
While the field of scholarship is open, the Dean of the School of Business will be a key player in the review and implementation of the University's mission, goals and objectives based on established policies and procedures. The candidate must demonstrate proven ability to work collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, university administrators, alumni, professionals, the business community and international colleagues under the Common Charge for Deans approved by the Board of Trustees. The Dean will promote enrollment growth through creative and innovative academic programs, including creating new on-ground and online academic undergraduate, graduate and doctoral degrees that meet the demands of the employment market. The Dean must be able to raise funds and secure external financial support for scholarship, teaching and research. The Dean must initiate, monitor and take charge of the continuing quality improvement of all the undergraduate and graduate programs, and provide strong leadership in personnel management within the School through the Department of Business Administration, Department of Management, and Department of Accounting, Economics and Finance; and the enhancement of existing and new programs in the Institute of Global Entrepreneurship and the Institute of Sports Administration. The Dean must demonstrate an understanding of the value of and a commitment to diversity and international education.
