Global Entrepreneurship Week 2009

St. Thomas University celebrated Global Entrepreneurship Week 2009, November 16th-22nd, with a number of events for students and aspiring entrepreneurs. The Institute for Global Entrepreneurship in conjunction with the School of Business and Phi Beta Lambda kicked the week off with a Public Speaking Workshop conducted by Associate Dean Jim Bussey, a 2007 World Championship Public Speaking Finalist. The following event was the Entrepreneurship Roundtable, featuring entrepreneurs Ariel Carrion, Rose Francesca, and Teneshia Taylor. Students had the opportunity to hear their experiences in starting their own businesses and some of the “pitfalls” to avoid when venturing to become an entrepreneur.
The culmination of the week was the Student Entrepreneurship Completive Exhibition and Competition, where students exhibited their business ideas to their peers and a panel of judges. Congratulations to the winners: in first place, Angie Arduz, a senior studying global leadership and history, in second place, Toni- Ann Taylor, a first year MBA student, and in third place, Samia Taoulost, a political science senior.
