St. Thomas University students and faculty members held the Exclusive Sneak Preview of the documentary film entitled Blooming Hope: Harvesting Smiles in Port-de-Paix on Saturday, November 14th at the Haitian Heritage Museum in the Design District.
The fundraiser reception opened its doors at 5:00 p.m. Attendees included students, faculty and staff members from St. Thomas University, members from the community and local media.
Ms. Eveline Pierre, Dean Gloria Ruiz, Mr. Anthony Vinciguerra, Prof. Marcela Moyano-Rosero and Mr. Fernando Rosero addressed the guests and spoke about the significance of the documentary in Haiti and our local community. The film chronicles the development of three sustainable projects, which include a fair-trade coffee cooperative, a women artisan initiative and a solar energy project that benefits schoolchildren in the North West department of Haiti.
The screening of the film followed the reception in a glamorous room. The Haitian art from the women was displayed and people enjoyed COCANO coffee from the farmers of the region of Port-de-Paix. Also, the Blooming Hope team sold “I heart Haiti” t-shirts. The proceedings from this event will fund the distribution of the documentary in film festivals and future screenings.
This was a stunning evening that proves that everyone enjoys blooming hope in the North West department of Haiti. For more information about the documentary, please visit our website at www.bloominghope.org
