Mock Trial Team Takes
Home the Gold Again

STU Law Mock Trial Team won four trophies at this year’s Nova Law School Closing Argument competition. The competition, which was open to all Florida law schools, took place March 20th and 21st. After the first day of intense competition, 16 students advanced to the second day, 12 of those were STU Mock Trial members and member-candidates.
Aron Gibson won 1st Place "Best Closer", Wyatt Holtsclaw won 2nd Place Closer, Brandon Stein won a "Final Four" trophy, and the STU Mock Trial team earned the "Best Closing Team" trophy against all other schools that competed.
Last year, the STU Mock Trial team also took home the 1st Place "Best Closer" and "Best Closing Team" trophies, which now makes STU Mock Trial the two-time defending champions of this competition's highest awards. During the fall semester of 2009, the STU Mock Trial Team also won "first place team" at the Florida Justice Association competition. This leaves the STU Mock Trial team earning five trophies for the entire year.
The team was coached by the Honorable Judge David M. Gersten, Attorney Kimberly Kanoff and Mock Trial President 3L Chris Brown.
Also competing from the STU Mock Trial Team were Nick Filimonchuk, Esther Pino, Joey Mccall, Anna Fernandez, Jesus Moises, Shary Glenn, Jorge Fors, Gizelle Rodriguez, Ramon Crego, Maziel Sodre, Manuel Gomez, Mike Usher, Lincoln Atten, Daniel Lopez, Bryan Paschal, and Tom Mirigliano.
