Renowned Aviator Barrington Irving Hosts
Summer Flight Academy at St. Thomas University

This summer, St. Thomas University will host the 2010 S.T.E.M. (Science, Technology and Engineer) Academy summer program. The program is part of Experience Aviation, an organization created by renowned aviator Barrington Irving, who holds world records for being the youngest man and black pilot to fly solo around the world in a single-engine plane.

The 2010 S.T.E.M Academy summer program, which is set to run from June 21st through August 6, Monday through Friday from 9 am to 4 pm, is open to students grades 4th to 12. Participants of the summer program will learn about aerodynamics, robotics, rocketry, and green technology from licensed instructors who will base the curriculum on national standards. Students will also “learn to fly” through the use of flight simulators and will take part in several hands-on learning projects such as building a global positioning system. The student-instructor ratio is 15-to-1, which ensures a personalized learning environment. The seven-week program costs $145 per student per week. Parents have the option of enrolling their children in the program for the full seven weeks or can also enroll them for a three or four week period.

Parents interested in enrolling their children in the program can contact Gina Cosculluela at 786-412-2054 or at
dream@experienceaviation.org.
