STU LIGHTS GABLES ESTATES BAY
IN GRAND JUBILEE CELEBRATION KICK-OFF

One of the leading Catholic universities in the southeast United States, St. Thomas University continues its 50th Anniversary festivities as it expands academic programs and undergraduate scientific research, offers nursing scholarships and launches its Human Trafficking Academy. Today the University has 14 varsity teams; 27 undergraduate majors; 16 graduate majors; 4 Law School degrees and a total of 20 buildings. Plans to hold the Grand Jubilee celebration April 21, 2012 are moving forward with Maria Elena Villamil and Frances Sevilla-Sacasa as Co-Chairs.

To provide details on the April event and St. Thomas’ unparalleled growth, philanthropist and Jubilee Honorary Chair Bunny Bastian hosted a dinner-dance February 2nd at her Gables Estates residence. University President Monsignor Franklyn M. Casale shared how the University is “recognizing the past, honoring the present and unlocking the future”. Dancing to the sounds of the Steve Chase Society Orchestra, guests enjoyed a dreamlike setting by the estate’s private beach, savoring Mena Catering’s hors d’oeuvres and a five-star buffet. A long list of business, philanthropic and civic leaders integrate the Host Committee of the “Developing Leaders for Life” Jubilee, among them Evelyn and Rudy Cecchi; Maria and Paul Garcia; Constance and Mike Fernandez; Lisa and Victor Mendelson; Amelia Cachaldora; Bibi and Mario Murgado; Susan and Jaime Angulo; Monica Puig; Nino Pernetti; Sandy O’Neil; Janice and Ervin Gonzalez; Dr. Rafael Diaz-Yoserev; Isabel and Jorge Rico; Evelyn and Tom Shea and Susana and Mario Trueba.
