Dr. Gloria P. Ruiz
Interim Dean

School of Leadership Studies

Dr. Ruiz graduated from Stanford University with a Ph.D. in Education and an MA in Communication Research. Her extensive professional experience includes management of educational and media endeavors. She has been a classroom educator ranging from middle school to university graduate level instruction to teacher trainer. In the media industry, Dr. Ruiz has worked as television producer for the San Francisco Unified School District and as Public Relations Director and subsequently as General Manager charged with opening new markets in Los Angeles for the cable television industry.

Dr. Ruiz has served as Chairperson for the St. Thomas University Department of Communication Arts, English and Humanities and was the initiator of the first bilingual graduate program in Hispanic Media studies. This Masters program is the first of its kind in the United States.

In July 2007, Dr. Ruiz was invited to serve as Interim Dean of St. Thomas University’s new School of Leadership Studies which includes programs in the Institute of Communication, Entertainment and Media along with leadership programs in Education and Professional Studies.
