Ten St. Thomas University faculty are developing university course syllabi that incorporate ESOL methodology. The purpose of this syllabi development is to support university science and mathematics courses (1) for teaching of students who are ELL (English language learners) and (2) to provide models for secondary school science and mathematics teaching.
This dual commitment will support university course effectiveness for limited English proficiency students and professional development of science and mathematics teachers or future teachers.
The university professors are also visiting science and mathematics teachers in partnership schools in both visitations to classrooms and for discussion of science and mathematics teaching.
