Vision: Rooted in the Catholic tradition, the School of Theology and Ministry calls forth the many and diverse gifts from the People of God for proclaiming and promoting the Reign of God on Earth.
Our Mission expresses the heart of St. Thomas University: Anchored in our Catholic tradition and commitment to the methods of practical theology and religious studies, we prepare men and women to engage in experiential reflection, transformative action and servant leadership required for the flourishing of both civil and ecclesial life.
HISTORY: The present School of Theology and Ministry began with the Bachelor of Arts in Religious Studies. With the advent of the Institute for Pastoral Ministries in 1980 the Master of Arts in Pastoral Ministries was added. The Centers for justice and Peace and Wholistic Spirituality soon followed. In 2000 we grew to include the Specialization in Deaf Ministry. With the Ph.D. in Practical Theology in 2005 and the Master of Divinity in 2010 we completed a full complement of academic programs to what had become the School of Theology and Ministry with the University's restructuring in 2007.
STRUCTURE: Our blend of rigorous academic programs and missional centers including the Centers for Justice and peace and Wholistic Spirituality and the Ecumenical Institute provide mutual enrichment and broad accessibility for adults seeking deeper understanding and active involvement in ministry. Choose from full range of programs leading to an academic degree or participate in learning opportunitites leading to certificates in disparate areas of ministry.
