The University Writing Center (UWC)
When a writer reaches this stage of the writing process, she should look at the writing from a critical perspective. This stage often requires a writer to rewrite sections of the work, as well as sentences. Don’t be lazy during the revision process as it is often the most critical stage.
Revision does not mean fixing commas and spelling; that stage would be proofreading. At this stage, a writer should be concerned about the large issues in the paper; see our HOCs and LOCs page for more information.
Revising a paper is an important step and should be taken seriously. A writer must set high standards for the writing.
The more you demand yourself in terms of clarity and elegance, the more precise and elegant your writing will be for your audience.
