Center for Justice & Peace

CENTER FOR JUSTICE & PEACE

The St. Thomas University Center for Justice and Peace develops wholistic community-based learning and engagement programs that are rooted in Catholic Social Thought, bring faculty and student resources to bear on the region's most pressing issues, and build meaningful solidarity with our community. (For a video overview of our work click here)

This work occurs in three geographic contexts

Locally: St. Thomas students work with Miami's inner-city congregations to identify and address the root causes of poverty and violence. (Click here for more information)

Regionally: St. Thomas students go to the fields of Central Florida, collaborating with farmworker organizations to defend the dignity of those who bring food to our tables. (Click here for more information)

Internationally: Through our unique Sister-Diocese partnership with Port-de-Paix, Haiti, St. Thomas faculty and students collaborate on long-term economic development projects to aid the poorest region in the Western Hemisphere. Fair-Trade Coffee development, women’s artisan initiatives, and environmentally-sustainable solar energy projects are just a few ways St. Thomas University students are bringing their faith to life - and making the world a better place. (Click here for more information)
