Gregory S. Chan Ed.D.
Provost of the University
& Chief Academic Officer
St. Thomas University
Miami Gardens, FL

Dr. Chan is a lifelong educator who is continuously striving for excellence in education. His philosophy is rooted in the belief that  “everything is achievable” through commitment, dedication and determination. This 30 year educator has truly experienced the ”American Dream” beginning as a Seattle public school teacher and then promoted to principal.  At Central Washington University, Dr. Chan rose through the faculty ranks from associate professor in teacher education to department chair, later becoming interim associate vice president for academic affairs. When asked what led him to become an educator, he reveals, “that his family has been in education for four generations”.   In 2001, Dr. Chan became Saint Thomas University’s first provost. Through the development of attainable goals with resourceful strategies the Provost, his staff and faculty have achieved educational excellence resulting in planned and manageable changes for an enhanced learning community. Through his leadership he has developed academic curricula and services needed to fulfill the mission and vision of the five academic schools and one college with undergraduate, graduate, doctoral, adult and non-traditional education.  Among his other attributes, Dr. Chan has also been named Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Slovenia, in Europe. It is with great pleasure that Dr. Chan welcomes you to Saint Thomas University and extends his open door policy to all students interested in meeting the Provost in person.
