Tony Villamil, distinguished economist and Dean of the School of Business at St. Thomas University, presents our new Bachelor of Arts in Economics degree. Degree Information
The Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Economics features from 30 to 39 credit hours of free electives allowing students to double major or minor in another field. The program gives students a great deal of flexibility in their career and graduate school choices. This degree is presented to learners who desire to acquire an educational foundation based on the study of economic theory, analysis, and application to issues concerning public, private and educational communities. Upon completion of this program students will:
  • Acquire an understanding of how macro-and micro-economic principles may be applied to industry and government activities and the subsequent impact upon global competition.
  • Use their knowledge base to further pursue graduate studies in Economics, Business Administration, or Social Studies.
  • Apply economic principles to create alternate opportunities for resolving real-world issues.

Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Specializing in Economics

The Bachelor of Business Administration in Management prepares students to pursue a career in managing activities in a private, public, non-profit, or governmental organization. In addition to specific management and behavioral courses, formal studies will include Accounting, Finance, Economics, Information Systems and Statistics.

The Economics specialization offers the management major an opportunity to strengthen what the student understands of various economic topics that impact decision-making in the public and private sectors.
