Professor Hatamyar earned her J.D. with honors from the University of Chicago Law School, was an Associate Editor of the University of Chicago Law Review, and was selected to membership in the Order of the Coif.  She received her B.A. in economics, with distinction, from Northwestern University and was selected to membership in Phi Beta Kappa.

After graduating law school, Professor Hatamyar joined the Chicago office of the national law firm of Sonnenschein, Nath & Rosenthal, practicing in civil litigation.  She was the first woman to rise through the ranks to partnership in the litigation department at Sonnenschein.

After eleven years in the practice of law, Professor Hatamyar joined the faculty at Oklahoma City University School of Law.  She eventually earned tenure there and served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs for three years.  In 2008-2009, Professor Hatamyar was a Visiting Professor of Law at Stetson University College of Law, and is now pleased to be visiting at St. Thomas.

Professor Hatamyar teaches Civil Procedure, Evidence, Pretrial Litigation, and Complex Litigation.  In the past she has also taught Family Law, Trial Practice, and Advanced Topics in Civil Procedure.  From the beginning of her academic career, Professor Hatamyar has incorporated skills learning into all her classes.
