Prospective Students

 

Students are encouraged to engage in undergraduate research, which will permit them to connect and integrate the concepts, skills and techniques learned within this program. At this moment students can participate in any of two on - going projects: 1. The link between weather variability and dynamics of hurricanes, 2. Environmental triggers of asthma and the mathematical modeling of the immune response during asthma episodes.

 

The program also allows the student to choose an education track. Students interested in becoming mathematics teachers have an excellent opportunity to receive an excellent education by taking advantage of small classes and a more personalized approach to teaching.

 

The Bachelor of Science program in mathematics at the School of Science, Technology, and Engineering Management of St. Thomas University is oriented towards applied mathematics. It provides students with a solid background in different areas of mathematics as well as a connection with the real world. The BS in Mathematics will prepare students according to the standards found in top institutions across the State and the nation. Our program has been designed to be oriented toward applications in areas of atmospheric physics, business, biosciences, and engineering. The program focuses on mathematical modeling and application of theory of dynamical systems and statistics.
