St. Thomas Law Connection

An E-Newsletter for Alumni & Friends

Volume I, Issue 2: June 2011

MESSAGE FROM THE DEAN

I am writing to wish you an outstanding summer. Since joining the St. Thomas Law community last October, I have been impressed with the energy of our students, the commitment of our faculty, and the achievements of our alumni.   I have enjoyed meeting many of you at our alumni events. After reviewing this newsletter, I think you will agree that we have had a good year. Our law students have won national and state honors in trial advocacy and we were able to attract global leaders like Vicente Fox to help expand our students’ horizons. Through our Pro Bono Leadership Program, students devoted over 15,000 hours last year to serving the community and our Human Rights Institute again represented over 6,000 immigrants. On the international scene, St. Thomas Law continued to expand its role as a leader in the global fight against human trafficking by co-sponsoring a conference in Rome last month. Next year promises to be just as eventful and Justice Scalia has already agreed to visit the law school in November.

In the coming year, we will be asking you to share your experience and wisdom with our students through a variety of new or expanded mentoring programs. Right now, you can help us build on our successes by contributing to the Law Annual Fund before June 30. Your gifts will help us keep a legal education as affordable as possible, support our student organizations including mock trial, moot court, student government, and our law reviews, support library and technology acquisitions, bring in distinguished speakers, and support the many public interest initiatives in which our students are involved. Your gifts will make the law school stronger and your participation will send a message that you believe in the mission of our school and the difference it can make. You may
Make an On-Line Gift or send a check made payable to St. Thomas University School of Law to Assistant Dean Peter Kelly’s attention to:
