A Message from the Director of Career Services

On behalf of Dean Garcia and the law faculty, I invite you to participate in our Recruitment Programs for 2007-2008 which begin on Monday, August 20th. Last year, more than 50 representatives from law firms, government agencies, corporations and public interest organizations came to the Law School to interview our second- and third-year students. Current scheduling indicates that the coming year will be a period of even greater recruitment activity.

Our students are highly qualified and motivated individuals who are eager to put their education to work for your organization. They are also gaining comprehensive practical experience through our extensive clinical programs. Our school continues to make impressive strides in placing students in South Florida ’s most progressive firms. Additionally, more of our graduates are clerking for federal and state appellate court judges. Each year results in a more impressive selection of students to interview. Employers who have previously participated in our program return due to the high quality and diversity of our student body.

I urge your firm to participate in our Fall Recruiting Program through our On-Campus Interview process. Firms and organizations are invited to take advantage of our renovated interview facilities during the fall and spring semesters, free of charge. Our Office of Career Services can tailor a recruiting program to meet your specific needs. These programs allow you to come to campus to interview up to twenty qualified students in one day for summer, permanent or academic year positions. Students submit resumes to each employer; so you are assured that students are interested in your particular organization. St. Thomas does not require potential employers to interview candidates they have not selected. You have the option of selecting a full day or half-day interview schedule, depending on your time commitment and the number of qualified applicants that meet your firm/organization’s criteria.

Attached is our "Registration Form." Please return the Registration form by mail, fax to (305) 623-2372, or by email to Angela Geter. Our Career Services Office will call you in the next couple of weeks to answer any questions that you may have about our Recruitment Program and the exciting changes occurring at our school.

Thank you and I look forward to talking to you soon. We believe that this will be a mutually rewarding and beneficial experience.

Sincerely,
Stacey Kotzen, Esq.
