Honored By Legal Aid Services of Broward County

May 15, 2009, Legal Aid Services of Broward County will honor St. Thomas University School of Law Professor Larry Fedro and the School’s Tax Clinic with the Legal Clinic of the Year Award at the 8th Annual “For the Public Good” event.

“It is with great pride that we announce our very own Larry Fedro and the Tax Clinic as the recipient of one of the areas most prestigious legal awards,” said Alfredo Garcia, Dean, St. Thomas University School of Law. “Presented to those who provide exemplary free service to low income individuals and families, this award is further recognition of the School of Law’s commitment to its mission of serving the local as well as the global community.”

Prof. Fedro and the Tax Clinic are being honored for their work in providing low-income members of the South Florida community with free tax help and legal advice.

One of the premier legal events in South Florida, this year’s “For the Public Good” is being held at the new Hilton Fort Lauderdale Marina and includes cocktails and a silent auction followed by dinner and the awards. The event will also celebrate Legal Aid of Broward County’s 35th Anniversary.
