Article I. Name

The name of this organization is the Entertainment & Sports Law Society of St. Thomas University School of Law. This group consists of law students at the above named law school who are members of the Chapter.

Article II. Mission an Purposes

Mission: The mission of the Chapter is to educate and inform members about the fields of entertainment and sports law. The society organizes on campus symposiums as well as trips to various conventions, exposing members to some of the nation’s most prominent sports and entertainment lawyers

Purposes: In striving to accomplish this mission, the Chapter shall design a program geared towards introducing interested students to the diverse field of sports and entertainment law. Widely misunderstood by laymen, sports law is more complex than one could possibly imagine. In reality, it is an amalgamation of many legal disciplines, ranging from antitrust law to tax law. Entertainment law is equally wide-ranging: encompassing more areas of law than any other legal discipline. Both of these fields are dynamic and ever changing, with new issues arising on almost a daily basis due to recent court decisions, new legislation and regulations. The Society will accomplish its mission and purpose by:

— Providing members current, practical information as well as public policy and scholarly viewpoints that are of professional and academic interest in the field of entertainment and sports law.

— Hosting one symposium per semester in order to bring prominent agents and lawyers in the sports and entertainment industry to the St. Thomas University School of Law campus.

— Providing members with at least one opportunity per semester to attend off campus conferences pertaining to entertainment and sports law.

— Assisting members in pursuing the wide range of career options in the sports and entertainment field.
