MASTERS OF SCIENCE IN EDUCATIONAL LEADERSHIP
The Master of Science (M.S.) in Educational Leadership comprises courses and experiences designed to develop entry-level competencies with a focus on the practice of K-12 public educational leadership. The program incorporates coursework based on Florida’s core curriculum requirements, addresses the competencies assessed in the Florida Educational Leadership Examination and addresses other requirements to receive Florida’s educational leadership certificate.
This degree is designed for individuals who have a master’s degree in a subject area or field of education other than Educational Administration/Leadership.
Admission Requirements
Candidates seeking admission to the M.S. in Educational Leadership must file an application form and the following documents with the University’s Office of Admissions.
1. A completed application form.
2. Submit transcripts of all colleges and universities attended.
3. A master’s degree from an accredited institution
4. A grade point average of at least 3.0 in master’s degree work.
5. At least two years of successful full-time teaching experience and a regular Florida Professional Teaching Certificate.
6. Two letters of recommendation
7. Completion of Administrative Experience Survey
8. Take a writing examination to determine proficiency in written language. Based upon performance, the applicant may be admitted fully, admitted probationally pending completion of a writing seminar, or denied admission.
A program faculty member reviews each complete application file and makes a recommendation on admission to the Office of Admissions. The Office of Admissions notifies applicants of the decision on their applications.

EDA 612 The Principalship; A Field Experience
Prerequisite: EDA 600, EDA 601, EDA 602, EDA 603, EDA 604, EDA 606, EDA 608
These courses are based on the Educational Leadership Policy Standards: ISLLC 2008. They are designed to address Florida’s 10 core curriculum requirements for educational leadership and to prepare an individual for the Florida Educational Leadership Examination (FELE) and/or the Praxis Test for Educational Leadership: Administration and Supervision (1040).
Guided Electives (2 Courses – 6 Credits)
Graduation Requirements
1. Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 to remain in academic good standing.
2. Students must complete all required courses with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0 to graduate
3. Students must take and pass all sections of the FELE prior to the posting date of the degree.
