Each year of Project SUCCESS, St. Thomas University faculty have developed university course syllabi incorporating ESOL methodology in subjects ranging from biology to philosophty. For 2011-2012, 9 faculty are particiapting in the syllabi development component of Project SUCCESS.
The purpose of this syllabi development is to support improving teaching to students who are ELL (English language learners) and to provide models for secondary teaching. As part of the Project, St. Thomas University faculty are visiting Univresity Schools and particiapting in regional ESOL workshops and conferences.
This dual commitment supports university course effectiveness for ELLs and professional development for teachers.
