Project SUCCESS
Project SUCCESS is a federally funded Office of English Language Acquisition initiative that provides an online graduate ESOL course for secondary teachers, administrators, and counselors in Miami-Dade and Palm Beach Counties; supports University Schools; and provides ESOL training for St. Thomas University faculty.
The purpose of Project SUCCESS is to improve the quality and effectiveness of ESOL learning and to improve achievement by English Language Learners. To succeed in these aims, the Project supports leadership and professional development initiatives related to ESOL.
ESOL Course
Through Project SUCCESS, senior high school and middle school teachers, administrators, and counselors can take EDU 512: Materials and Curriculum Development with scholarships that provide free tuition and books. The course is provided online through Blackboard.
Orientation for new courses may be held on campus or online.
University Schools
In Miami-Dade County, three schools have been named University Schools. This designation indicates the commitment of St. Thomas University to provide services as needed as well as research and development initiatives within the University Schools. At each school, a University School Coordinator nurtures the partnership between the school and the University by identifying needs and requests for services, arranging conferences and workshops, and supporting communication between the school and the University.
