CERTIFICATE PROGRAMS

These certificate programs are designed to meet the needs of persons in ministry who require training for a particular ministry skill rather than a general preparation for ministry. As such, they appeal particularly to professional ministers (ordained, religious, and lay) looking for specific skills, for example, in the area of youth ministry or counseling; lay people who are undertaking a ministry in their parish for the first time; or seasoned ministers who are changing ministries.
Since the focus is the acquisition of skills rather than a general preparation, the certificate programs involve a more limited academic commitment, generally five (5) courses rather than the twelve (12) required for the Master’s degree.

General Pastoral Ministries: Students may receive this certificate by completing fifteen (15) graduate credits of their choosing in Pastoral Ministries at St. Thomas University. Refer to the Pastoral Ministries course section of this catalog for a complete listing.
