Sources of Financial Assistance for Students
Students who are US citizens or permanent residents typically secure funds from a variety of sources to finance their education. Some sources are:
- Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) – St Thomas University Office of Financial Aid provides assistance to qualified students in the form of The Federal Pell Grant, the Federal Stafford Loans (subsidized and/or unsubsidized) and the Florida Residents Access grant for U.S. citizens and eligible non-citizens with a valid Social Security number.
- Payment Plans – students may choose to pay charges owed for an upcoming term through a University approved 10-month installation plan. For specific inquiries and applications, contact the B.A.S.I.C. at 305-474-6900.
- Tuition Reimbursement – All students are encouraged to check with the Human Resources Office at their place of employment. Some employers offer educational benefits that may allow students to have part or all of their tuition delayed or paid provided they meet the conditions established in their Benefits Manual. St. Thomas has a well established program for accommodating tuition benefits offered by employers.
Each program has specific international and out-of-state fees. Contact the program director of the specific program for details.
