Student Visa (F1)
International students are defined as students in need of a student visa, i.e. not U.S. citizens or permanent residents. They have to fulfill the same admissions criteria as U.S. students. In addition, they have to receive an I-20 document from the University Office of International Students and pay $100 SEVIS fee. Also, in general they have to obtain proper student visa status prior to entering the country. They may work at the University for a time not exceeding 20 hours a week and are eligible to apply for optional practical training subsequent to completion of their studies in the LL.M. program. Students interested in this option are advised to apply for INS approval as soon as possible after beginning their studies with the Director of the University’s Office of International Students.

St Thomas University is located at 16401 N.W. 37 th Avenue, Miami Gardens , Florida 33054, midway between Fort Lauderdale and downtown Miami in the South Florida area. The area is home to many diverse neighborhoods from South Beach and the Miami Beaches to Coral Gables, Bal Harbour to Coconut Grove. The beaches of Fort Lauderdale are twenty minutes from the University, while Palm Beach is forty-five minutes. Miami is one of the greatest and most fascinating places to visit in the world. And, of course, Disney world is only a three hours drive (to Orlando).
