The University Archives and Special Collections collects, preserves, organizes and promotes the use of the permanent records of the University, and of the rare and special material in its care in support of the educational mission of the University.

The University Archives and Special Collections serves as a resource for students, faculty, administration, and staff of St. Thomas University as well as for local, regional, national, and international scholars and researchers.

The University Archives contains historical records, published materials, ephemera, and objects relating to the history of St. Thomas University from its earliest beginnings to the present. The Archives holds material from Santo Tomas de Villanueva in Havana, Cuba (1946 to 1961), Biscayne College (1961 to 1983) and St. Thomas University (1984 to the present).

The University Archives collects and makes available records of permanent historical value of the University’s governing bodies as well as its administrative offices, academic departments, curriculum and student life. The University Archives holds documents in the following formats: minutes, correspondence, photographs, reports, yearbooks, syllabi, these and dissertations, student and alumni periodicals, and other University publications.

The Special Collections houses unique, rare and special research materials including books, manuscripts, photographs, prints, posters and other printed ephemera. The Special Collections also houses several significant collections of personal papers and corporate records.

The use of the resources housed at the University Archives and Special Collections is by appointment. For information, or to schedule an appointment, contact one of the librarians listed below. Please note that the use of some documents may be restricted.
