Professor Cabrera Pierre-Louis’ research crosses the disciplines of business law, international law, culture, and the philosophical principles of ethics, and justice.  She writes critically about deregulation, the lack of transparency, and accountability of business entities and markets from a Keynesian economics perspective.  Professor Cabrera Pierre-Louis’ scholarship has been published in the U.C. DAVIS BUSINESS LAW JOURNAL, ST. JOHN’S LAW REVIEW, FORDHAM JOURNAL OF CORPORATE AND FINANCE LAW, ENCYCLOPEDIA OF THE SUPREME COURT OF THE UNITED STATES, ENCYCLOPEDIA OF AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY, and INSTITUTE OF CHARTERED FINANCIAL ANALYSTS OF INDIA UNIVERSITY PRESS. She is a frequent contributor to the corporate justice blog.

Professor Cabrera Pierre-Louis has presented her scholarly research at leading universities and forums including American University School of Law, The Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London, England, University of Seattle School of Law, University of the West Indies Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad, West Indies, Georgetown University School of Law, Eugene Dupuch Law School in Nassau, Bahamas, Chapman University School of Law, Cayman Islands Law School in Grand Cayman, British West Indies, and Boston University School of Law.

Professor Cabrera Pierre-Louis received her A.B. from Columbia University, Barnard College with majors in economics and sociology. She received her M.A. from New York University Graduate School with specializations in finance and public policy. She received her J.D. from Fordham University School of Law, where she served as an editor on the FORDHAM FINANCIAL, SECURITIES & TAX LAW FORUM, and the FORDHAM ENVIRONMENTAL LAW JOURNAL. She received regional best speaker award in the Jessup International Moot Court Competition. While in law school she served as a law clerk to Associate Judge George Bundy Smith of the New York State Court of Appeals and Judge Allyne Ross of the United States District Court Eastern District of New York.

Professor Cabrera Pierre-Louis began her legal career as a legal assistant to Arthur Liman in the Michael Milken securities fraud defense litigation. Later, she practiced law in New York City as an associate at Winthrop, Stimson, Putnam & Roberts (currently Pillsbury Winthrop), where she represented multi-national corporations in cross-border financings and securities offerings. Professor Pierre-Louis was an Assistant Attorney General in the Investment Protection Bureau of New York State Attorney General Eliot Spitzer, where she enforced New York State securities laws against the financial services industry including Bank of America, Bank One, and Invesco Funds. She has taught previously at St. John’s University School of Law, where she was the inaugural director of the securities arbitration clinic, and Columbia and New York Universities Graduate Business School Executive MBA Programs.  She is a native French speaker.

Professor Cabrera Pierre-Louis is a member of the Hispanic National Bar Association, the New York State Bar Association, and the American Branch of the International Law Association Committee on Multilateralism and the Accountability of International Organizations to review the governance practices of the International Monetary Fund and World Bank.
