Political Science
The undergraduate program in political science aims to provide an understanding of basic political processes and institutions as these operate in different national and cultural contexts. It encompasses the study of politics and political systems at the government but also the analysis of such phenomena as political behavior, political values, political change and stability, parties, bureaucracies, justice, national security, and international affairs.
The study of political science provides undergraduates with a variety of possible career opportunities in such areas as law, government service, education, journalism, and business.
Students majoring in Political Science are required to take 24 upper division credits. It is expected, however, that they will select electives from a broad spectrum of the Social Sciences in order to enhance their understanding of the problems that require political solutions.
