What is STU RENEW?

STU RENEW consists of a number of small faith sharing groups of 6 to 8 members. It was created to provide opportunities for students, faculty, and staff to experience community, discuss spirituality, and provide opportunities for community service. These groups develop leaders with mature faith and social consciousness to enhance the college experience.

STU RENEW GROUPS

Small faith sharing groups of 6 to 8 people will be formed at the beginning of each semester and meet 12 times for 1 hour each week. Fear not, there are no tests or papers! These groups will be open to all students, faculty, and staff in order that the whole university community may participate in this experience of renewal. The groups will be led by students, faculty, and staff who have already experienced the STU RENEW process.

Why Small Groups or “Communities”?

Almost everyone longs to belong especially during the college experience when many students have left the safe comfortable confines of home and high school. It can be difficult at this time period to experience faith community centered on spirituality which studies have shown to be important in the lives of college age students.

STU RENEW provides the opportunity to recognize the work of the Spirit among us today. When we gather to reflect on our faith, no matter what faith tradition we come from, we recognize that the Spirit is living and active in our own lives. Our stories reflect the work of God in the world. As community we support one another, but also challenge each other. Our stories reflect the work of God in our lives and in the world. As a community we support one another and also challenge each other to be whom we were created to be.
