Sacraments and RCIA
With great joy the Archbishop of Miami has granted St. Thomas University’s Office of Campus Ministry permission to serve the sacramental needs of the members of the university community. This permission is extended to current students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Sacrament of Marriage
The Sacrament of Marriage is celebrated at the Chapel of Saint Anthony according to the guidelines established by the Archdiocese of Miami and St. Thomas University. Anyone interested in having their wedding celebration at the university should contact the Office of Campus Ministry at least one year prior to the desired date.
Celebration of Baptism
The Sacrament of Baptism is celebrated during the academic year during the 7:00 p.m. Sunday community mass or at another agreed upon time. Parents are asked to make arrangements with the Office of Campus Ministry as far in advance as possible. Parents will be asked to attend an instructional session prior to the celebration.
RCIA
The “Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults” (RCIA) is the process by which a person becomes fully initiated into the Roman Catholic Faith. It is open to those who may have been Baptized in another faith tradition and who are now moved to become Catholic. Also invited are those who were Baptized Catholic and would like to receive Eucharist and/ or receive Confirmation.
The Office of Campus Ministry offers this program beginning in early October. It culminates with the beautiful and moving “Rites of Initiation” at the Easter Vigil. We meet each Sunday evening for discussion followed by the university community mass.
If you would like further information please contact the office of Campus Ministry and Community Outreach.

Celebrations of Sacraments
The Archbishop of Miami has granted STU permission for the celebration of sacraments in the Chapel of Saint Anthony. This permission is limited to current Students, Faculty, Staff, Board Members and Alumni.
If a university priest is not available for the celebration, those requesting the sacrament will need to invite their own priest. The priest must be in good standing with the Church and have proper faculties granted by the Archbishop of Miami.
If music is requested for the celebration Maria Perez-Rudisill should be contacted through the Office of Campus Ministry. If she is not available Maria will assist those making the request in finding a qualified musician.
Baptisms:
Arrangements for Baptisms can be made through the Office of Campus Ministry. The parents are requested to attend a preparation session with the priest scheduled to perform the Baptism.
Weddings
Those wishing to be married in the Chapel of Saint Anthony must make contact with the office of Campus Ministry 1 year prior to the wedding date as required by the guidelines of the Archdiocese of Miami.
Weddings during the fall and spring semesters can only be scheduled Friday thru Sunday and at times that will not interfere with university events or services.
The witnessing priest is responsible for the preparation of the couple according to the policies of the Archdiocese of Miami. The completed paperwork will be filed by the Office of Campus Ministry.
Decorations should be kept to a minimum so as not to intrude on the simplistic beauty and integrity of the chapel.
An offering of $300 will be suggested for the upkeep of the chapel.
