Clubs & Organizations

St. Thomas University offers the student an opportunity to become involved in the many different clubs and organizations on campus. Clubs and organizations range in their goals from academic, social, and athletic to awareness building. If you don’t see the right club for you, think about starting a new club. Also, since new clubs often form check out club fairs and visit the Center for Student Involvement (CSI) to keep updated. Being a part of a campus club or organization can greatly enrich your experience here at St. Thomas.
 

Academic Clubs

Global Leadership Pax Romana Student Society
The Global Leadership Pax Romana organization is dedicated to forming young professional leaders for the new global society, who will be equipped to assist with ecological, social and spiritual healing of the world. The society forms these young professional leaders by building community, sponsoring educational processes, and transformative action on behalf of ecology, justice, and peace.
 
M.A.C.: Math and Astronomy Club
The Math and Astronomy Club mission id to enhance the students’ understanding of the fields of mathematics and astronomy through fun and engaging activities such as planetarium visits, stargazing field trips and theoretical physics discussions. Our goal is to promote the connection between science and mathematics to our knowledge of the world. We hope that this way, students can be motivated to explore the depths of intellectual curiosity and technological advances to help our civilization.
 
The Biology Club
The purpose of the Biology Club is to promote study in the biological sciences through campus and community involvement. Besides providing new students with a social outlet to become acclimated with St. Thomas University and the School of Science, Technology & Engineering Management, the Club provides students with extracurricular activities.
 
The Empire
The Empire is an organization that promotes an appreciation of and respect for the studies of History and Political Science while promoting careers for students in the fields of History and Political Science.
 
The Psychology Club
The Psych Club works to promote educational experiences to enhance students understanding of the field of psychology. We also work to build awareness and knowledge. This organization encourages students to apply their knowledge of Psychology to promote the well being of the STU community.
 
Writers United
Writers United is dedicated to advancing the St. Thomas University community's knowledge of and experiences with writing and rhetoric.
 

Cultural Organizations

 A.L.A.S.: Association of Latin-American Students
ALAS encourages academic excellence for the Hispanic community while fostering cultural harmony among other ethnic groups. This club sponsors cultural and social activities promoting the interest of Spanish speaking students within the University.
 
 C.S.A.: Caribbean Students Association
The STU Caribbean Student Association was initially formed to unite the Caribbean students attending this institution. This organization also creates cohesiveness among all Caribbean islands including other countries so as to enlighten each other about the cultural diversities surrounding us.
 
International Students Association
This club is solely dedicated to the betterment of all the International Students quality of life in this university as well as in this country and subsequently in the world. We would like to help each other with any issues we may have and guide one another in times of need. We intend to form an international family, a home away from home, where everyone feels welcomed and knows they have friends here, from the very instant they join the STU community. 
 
Kreyol Nation
Our mission is to unite Haitian students and those interested in Haitian culture. It will produce programs that will expose the Haitian culture to the community of STU. This group will be open to all STU students with an interest in Haitian culture. We also look to expand the Haitian culture throughout STU.
 

Special Interest Groups

Lady Diamondettes
The Lady Diamondettes supports the diversified dancing techniques from every member of the group. They aim to uphold the standards of the St. Thomas University Community at all times while educating the students about the urban lifestyle through dance.
 
MALES: Men Achieving Leadership, Excellence, and Success
MALES purpose is to create programs and activities that will benefit the school and its student body. Secondly, to act as support for community service projects and other events presented by already established organizations on campus and to also improve the image, leadership qualities, and communication skills of the STU Men.
 
SAVE: Students Advocating and Valuing Earth
The purpose of SAVE is to aid, promote and value the planet. This organization will voice the concerns of Earth, concerns that need recognition and action in the university and in the world. By doing so - this organization helps to bring forth knowledge to students and others, to help those that cannot help themselves, and to learn and maintain a life of sustainability. This organization intends to help and work for the welfare of this planet and this - the welfare of all its inhabitants.
 
S.W. E. R.: Students Working for Equal Rights
The Vision of S.W.E. R. is to sustain a youth-led movement for equal educational opportunities in a world free of Fear and unjust criminalization.  Created by undocumented immigrant youth, SWER works to create possibilities and raise awareness in our community about social justice and equal access to education, satisfying the needs of all individuals with a passion to further their knowledge.
 
 

Journalism Clubs

Driftwood
A literary and visual arts magazine published annually featuring poems, short stories, essays, screenplays, and photography submitted by students, faculty, and staff.

WSTU TV95

Sponsored by the Institute for Communication, Entertainment and Media, (ICEM), WSTU95 is a closed circuit television programming network run by St. Thomas University students. WSTU95 is committed to promoting the University’s Catholic identity and to educating ethical professionals in communications for a global context. WSTU95 can now be viewed on the Web.

Get Involved
St. Thomas University students can get involved in the TV station as producers of shows, assistant producers, writers, video editors, reporters, photographers, and sales. Weekly station meetings are open and anyone can sign in as new member.

Weekly Programming
St Thomas University Communication students create and produce weekly programming based on the mission statements of the station and the University. Students producing content for the TV Channel are currently enrolled in one of the TV Production courses such as COM 310 and COM 410.
