COUNSELING AT ST. THOMAS UNIVERSITY

Health & Wellness Center

 

Location

The Health and Wellness Center is located in the Student Center (between the baseball field and the cafeteria).  Health and Wellness is located in the south end of the building near the Rathskeller.  

 

Cost
There is no cost for counseling services offered to St. Thomas University Students.

Counseling Sessions
Individual therapy offered at St. Thomas University is a 30-45 minute session with a Licensed Professional. Students may receive up to eight counseling sessions per semester. Students who need more than eight counseling sessions per semester may receive an off campus referral based on the student’s preferences and needs.  Counseling is available for all St. Thomas University students (undergrad, graduate and law).

Appointments / Scheduling

Appointments are not required for your sessions; however it is recommended that you contact a counselor via email joramas@stu.edu to ensure that she is able to meet with you during your available time.  Please note, H & W will only to communicate with St. Thomas University students via their STU email account due to school policy. If you want to drop in feel free, however simply be aware that Ms. Oramas may be in session with another student.

 

Confidentiality
Services and records are strictly confidential. Counseling records stay in the Health and Wellness Center, separate from academic or medical records. Information regarding visits and records is not disclosed without written consent from the student except in life threatening situations.  Also, any campus contact between counselor and student will be initiated by the student- the counselor will protect the fact that the student comes to counseling.
