Tennis For Everyone
A group of 12 to 16 “special population” adults from the Marian Center are experiencing tennis lessons for the first time at the St. Thomas University tennis courts this spring. St. Thomas University tennis coach Bruce Carrington, in collaboration with the City of Miami Gardens Parks & Recreation, is providing clinics once a week for 9 weeks this spring. The Marian Center, a direct neighbor of St. Thomas has an adult school that provides education and nurtures self-reliance for the mentally and developmentally retarded of South Florida. The Center is part of the Catholic Health Services (CHS) which is a ministry of the Archdiocese of Miami and is devoted to improving the quality of life for those in need. During the 2 hour training period participating individuals learn the fundamentals of tennis while enjoying the fun & fitness of tennis.
