UNI 101
Director: Dr. Pamela Cingel
University 101 (UNI 101) is a course designed to build skills for success in college, the workplace and for lifelong learning. This course provides opportunities for students to develop relationships with fellow students, faculty and the
St. Thomas community to support and enrich a successful college experience. The development of a mentor-protégé relationship is facilitated to help students make the academic and cultural transition from high school to college. Overall, this course contributes to a learning environment that nurtures the development of self-confidence, trust and personal responsibility.
An example of topics covered include: Applying Critical Thinking Skills, Building Community and Connection, Walking the Academic Labyrinth, Advising and Career Planning, Health and Wellness and Walking the Academic Labyrinth.
The instructors teaching the UNI 101 course come from all areas of the university so that students can experience faculty that teach on all levels (undergraduate and graduate) and all the majors. Currently, the instructors for the Fall 2007 UNI 101 courses are:
