John Dedo, M.S. Sports Administration, is now in charge of Production/Sales for Corporate Staging and Events.

Laura M. (Sanchez) Ramirez, B.A. Communication Arts, completed her Masters degree in Print Journalism at the University of Miami. She had a long career in journalism and communications working for various media outlets including The Miami Herald, Harpers Bazaar magazine, Vanidades magazine, The Sun-Sentinal, BBC World Service Latam radio and online BBC Mundo. Currently, she is a professor for the Advertising Department at Miami International University of Art and Design, where she teaches Advertising Copywriting, English, Writing for Interactive Media, History of Advertising, and Public Relations & Promotion. She has been married for 26 years and has two daughters, one attends the University of Miami and another attends St John's University in NYC.

Jacinth Spivey, B.A. Business Management, is the author of the recently published book titled “A Lady we Called Mother” – a tribute to the life of an outstanding Christian lady named Isabel Morgan. Jacinth works as a Human Resource Specialist for the Air Force Personnel Center in Randolph, Texas. She is married and has two children.

Deborah Smith Havighorst, M.S. Sports Administration, was named Executive Director of the PSC Foundation at Prairie State College (IL).

Dave Welsh, M.S. Sports Administration, is the Director of Ticket Operations at the University of Houston (TX).


Ben Bobillo, B.A. Political Science ’91 and M.S. Management ’93, is an active member of the St. Thomas University Alumni Advisory Council.

Carlos Boothby, M.S. Sports Administration, is the Athletic Director at St. Stephen’s Episocal School (FL).

Robert Christman, M.S. Mental Health Counseling, is starting his 12th year as full time Human Service faculty member at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY.

Joe Cimino, B.A. Sports Administration ’88 and M.S. Management ’92, Head Equipment Manager for the Miami Dolphins, was recently awarded with the Whitey Zimmerman Award as the NFL Equipment Manager of the Year.


Bryan Moynihan, M.S. Sports Administration, is the Vice President for Ticket Sales & Services at the Valero Alamo Bowl in San Antonio, TX.

Dave O’Connor, M.S. Sports Administration, is now the Key Account Manager for New Balance where he is responsible for running their Sears business.

Max A. Stempel, B.A. International Business, relocated to Brazil to become the Chief Underwriting Officer, Consumer Division of AIG as I he looking to face new growth opportunities within the Latin America and Caribbean Division. Prior to that, Mr. Stempel spent 8 years in Panama as CEO of AIG. He has two kids, Daniela, 13 and Ximena, 11, both happily attending the Graded International School in Sao Paulo, Brazil.


Patti Geml Hazlett, M.S. Sports Administration, accepted the Director of Corporate Communications position at Mountain West Credit Union Association in the Denver, CO area.

Wayne Stofsky, M.S. Sports Administration, was recently named the Head Baseball Coach at Cooper City High School in Cooper City, FL.

Vincent Strumolo, M.S. Marriage & Family Therapy, is currently the Clinical Director at New Life Addiction Treatment Center in Port Saint Lucie, FL. Mr. Strumolo developed an integrated and systemic approach to treating trauma and unresolved life issues framework for therapy called Resolution Focused Therapy© (RFT). He is a Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist, and has been working in the area of trauma and addictions for over twenty three years.

Dr. Brian Thornburg, M.S. Management, was recently selected as one of the most innovative pediatricians in the country by Parents Magazine. He heads up Thornburg Pediatrics, a concierge pediatric practice, with his wife Dr. Helen Thornburg.


Todd Callender, M.S. Sports Administration, is now the Assistant Box Office Manager for the SMG LA Superdome & New Orleans Arena.

Blake James, M.S. Sports Administration was hired as the new Director of Athletics at the University of Miami. He had served as Interim Director of Athletics since October 2012. Blake and his wife Kelly have two children, Haley and Ryan.

Marvin Julich Jr., M.S. Sports Administration, is now the Executive Director of Athletics for Development for Samford University.

Michael Kelly, M.S. Sports Administration, is the COO of the new college football playoff and national championship game at the Bowl Championship Series headquartered in Dallas, TX. He was previously Senior Associate Commissioner of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

John Hayek, M.S. Sports Administration, is the Associate Vice Chancellor and Chief of Staff for Academic Affairs for the University of Texas System.

Anthony Hunt, B.A. Sports Administration, was promoted to the Director of Pro Scouting with the Miami Dolphins.


Larry Blocker, M.S. Sports Administration, is now the Senior Director of Game Presentation and Events for the Miami Marlins.

Santos A. Perez, M.S. Management, was inducted into the Florida Boxing Hall of Fame on June 22 surrounded by many of the South Florida personalities he has written about for more than 30 years. Santos is part of the 20-member 2014 Hall of Fame Class. Santos' selection to the Hall of Fame was based on his four-decade career writing about boxing in The Miami News, The Associated Press, and since 1995 for The Miami Herald, where he currently writes a boxing column that runs every Monday.


Roberto Alcalde, MBA Business Administration ’98, BA Public Administration ’96, was named Commercial Program Director for Cable & Wireless Communications in the Caribbean. Roberto is responsible for broadband, data, voice products and infrastructure from concept, through business case creation, deployment and post investment review.

William “Bill” Robinson, B.A. Sports Administration, is the General Manager for Holiday Retirement.

Adam Simon, B.A. Sports Administration, has been named the general manager of the Sioux Falls Skyforce (SD), the NBADL af´Čüliate of the Miami Heat. Simon will also retain his role as the director of player personnel for the Miami Heat.

Sean Todd, M.S. Sports Administration, is the new Director of Football Operations at Florida International University.


Doug Chisholm, B.A. Sports Administration, is currently the Director of Activation overseeing the Marketing Partnership for the Phoenix Suns.

Matt Hagood, M.S. Sports Administration, recently accepted a job at Florida International University in Miami as the Director of Digital Media Services.

Daniel A. Rosemond, M.S. Management, has joined the management team at the City of Hallandale Beach. He was previously Assistant City Manager for the City of Miami Gardens.

David Sobel, M.B.A. Business Administration, is the Senior Director of Corporate and Foundation Partnerships at American Red Cross Greater New York.


Scott Bolton, M.S. Sports Administration, is handling Corporate Sales at the Texas Motor Speedway.

Jorge Pena, B.A. Criminal Justice and 2006, M.S. Management with a certificate in Criminal Justice, has been serving in law enforcement for the past 16 years and was recently promoted to the position of Police Lieutenant for the Department of Financial Services/Division of Insurance Fraud in its Miami office. He started in law enforcement with the Miami-Dade County Public Schools Police Department as School Resource Officer and later as Acting Sergeant.

David Jandrew, M.S. Sports Administration, is the Director of Operations for the Piedmont Educational Foundational/Bears Club at Lenoir-Rhyne University (NC).
