Dr. Massey is was a teacher for 35 years in a secondary school on an island in the Caribbean and was the recipient of numerous awards for dedication to education and community service, as well as Teacher of the Year in 2003. Dr. Massey works with a local elementary school to have her students work with at-risk students. She is a member of the International Literacy Association and Council for Exceptional Children. She is on the board of editors for the Florida Reading Journal. Her area of interest is with struggling and at-risk to close the gap that exists between minority students and children from low socioeconomic backgrounds compared to high socioeconomic backgrounds.
