“I’m proud of my STU diploma hanging on the wall of my office, and use the principles every day in my current fundraising job – in which I have also created a sports hall of fame and a huge spring football game alumni hospitality event. The SPO AD degree simply provides a training ground for developing skills and knowledge to trigger passion in people, and STU is the best in the country! I won an industry award a couple years ago for fundraising, and I have STU to thank for it.”
Christine Reuss, Bankruptcy Assistant at Shapiro, Van Ess, Phillips and Barragate, LLC (JD/MBA ’12)
“The primary reason I decided to attend St. Thomas University was to take part in the Juris Doctorate/Master in Business Administration in Sport Administration joint degree program. As a former athlete, I have always wanted to stay close to sports and the athletes. My goal was to obtain an education that would lend itself to helping others navigate through various aspects of their collegiate/ professional lives. St. Thomas provides a broad base of learning opportunities such as a variety of class offerings, open access to its faculty, club memberships and the professional networking that comes as an added benefit. Obtaining my goal has been made easy because of the faculty and the close community St. Thomas University offers.”
Erin Rafter, Manager of Onboard Revenue at Celebrity Cruises (MS ’02)
“My association with the St. Thomas University Sports Administration has continued well past my internship at Harvard University and my graduation. Through the monthly newsletters and emails I have been able to connect with other alumni and learn about job opportunities that I wouldn’t have had access to otherwise. The SPO AD alumni network led me to my previous positions as Marketing Coordinator for Notre Dame Sports Properties as well as my current position. The alumni network is a valuable part of my St. Thomas education that I continue to use.

“It is with fond memories that I write this note to you with reference to the recent update on the Sports Administration Program summary included in the Fall 2007 STU Newsletter to Alumni. Al Twitchell was a wonderful mentor to me as I completed my Master’s in Human Resources Management with a concentration in Sports Administration. I think that I was the first graduate from the Master’s Program as I started my course work in the summer of 1977 and graduated in May 1978. I recall the program just starting and sitting in classes predominately comprised of students seeking advanced degrees for law enforcement and aviation studies. I recall both the Orioles and Dolphins being on-site. I recall deciding to go to STU because I did not want to go to the University of Massachusetts, St. John’s or Ohio University because their programs were based in the physical education department. “ Biscayne” had it right in recognizing that sports was indeed business and that at least half of the curriculum needed to be based in business school coursework. I got great experience from my internship with the University of Miami Athletic Department and also with the Orange Bowl Committee. Al Twitchell had a clear vision, was an exceptional leader and I recall much advice he rendered to me over my business career and also in my personal life. Dr. Bell, thanks again for helping me to recall my positive experience at St. Thomas.”

"I can't say enough about the Sports Administration program at St. Thomas University; I moved to Miami in the summer of
2010 to continue my education and this program has changed the outlook and direction of my career forever. STU stands
out as the preeminent program in the nation for a few key reasons; they will work diligently to help you finance your
education and they will put you in a position to be exposed to the experience needed to create a place for yourself within
the sports industry. Students interested in challenging themselves and building a personal brand that will allow them to
fulfill their individual ambitions should look no further then the small, Catholic university in Miami, FL."
