Opening Ceremony: Global Entrepreneurship Week

The School of Business kicked-off Global Entrepreneurship Week – for the fifth consecutive year – Wednesday, November 20th with a weekly program that features successful entrepreneurs from various walks of life. The Institute for Global Entrepreneurship, directed by Dr. Justin Peart, has continued to expand is role in the School of Business, opening the yearly experience to the wider community for the benefit of our STU students. A growing number of graduate students are pursuing their dreams to own their own businesses and are increasingly taking new courses in entrepreneurship, offered by the school.

Jorge Rico, Managing Partner of MBF Healthcare Partners and a member of the St. Thomas University Board of Trustees, was one of the keynote speakers Wednesday morning sharing his vast experience on “Starting and Developing a Successful Business Venture” and giving students the perspectives of “Entrepreneurship vs. Intrapreneurship.” Diane Sanchez, CEO, Technology Foundation of the Americas, and former senior executive with top-ranked technology and mobile communications giants, joined Rico, inspiring students to join the ever evolving and growing occupational field of technology.

Special thanks to the Faculty Task Force that made the events possible; panelists and corporate sponsors; to Dr. Peart’s leadership; and Dean Tony Villamil’s support for the Institute’s growth. Most of all, special thanks to the SCHOOL OF BUSINESS STUDENTS AND THEIR ASSOCIATIONS, who continue to embrace the campaign and impact the STU community by inspiring our youngsters to unleash their entrepreneurial spirit!
