Associate Law Librarian and Head of Technical Services

Sonia Luna-Lamas is the Associate Director & Head of Technical Services at St. Thomas University School of Law. Since joining the law library in the Fall of 1995, she has held several positions in the Technical Services Department. Being hired as the Law Cataloger, later promoted to Bibliographic Control Librarian where she was overseeing the Serials/Acquisitions units and currently as the Associate Director & Head of Technical Services. In her current position she assists the director in overall library operations including facilities, acquisitions, budgeting, personnel issues and general public and technical services functions.

Sonia received her M.L.S. from the University of South Florida and has been working in library since 1983, where she began her library career as a library student assistant. She received her paraprofessional training at the University of Miami Richter Library Technical Services Department while pursuing her library degree and after graduating accepted a position with the University of Miami Law Library as their Foreign/International Law Cataloger. Later being promoted as their Serials Librarian, overseeing the daily operations of the serials/acquisitions units.

Sonia is active in local, state and national library associations as well as university appointments. Currently serving in a variety of committees and has held offices as president, vice-president, treasurer and secretary in a many of them including the American Association of Law Libraries and the American Law Library Association.
