Location in Law School:

CSO is located on the second floor of the law school.  From the stairs/elevator our office is to the right through the glass door.  From there our office is the fourth door on the right.

There are several ways to make an appointment with a CSO counselor.  You can call the CSO, (305) 623-2351.  You can email one of the CSO counselors directly. Or you can request an appointment online through your Symplicity account.

 

CSO Staff:

 

Mercedes Pino, Esq., Director of Career Services, manages the Office of Career Services.  In addition to her administrative responsibilities, she provides counseling to students and alumni, presents programs on all aspects of creating a job search, and provides assistance in revising job search documents.  Mercedes received her B.A. from Florida State University and her J.D. from Stetson University College of Law and is a member of the Florida Bar.  She is presently working on a M.S. in Human Resource Management.  (305) 623-2350 • mmpino@stu.edu

 

Jessie Howell, Esq., Associate Director of Career Services, oversees law firm outreach.  She also provides counseling to students and alumni, presents programs and workshops, and coordinates collection of statistical employment data for national reporting, as well as providing assistance with job search documents.  Jessie received her B.S. from Northeastern University in Boston, MA, her J.D. from the University of Florida Levin College of Law and is a member of The Florida Bar. (305) 623-2323 • jhowell@stu.edu

 

Jennifer Portwood, Esq., Public Interest Career Counselor, coordinates the Florida Bar Foundation Public Service Fellowships and the STU LRAP (the John & June Mary Makdisi Loan Forgiveness Fund & the Mr. & Mrs. Stanley G. Tate Loan Forgiveness Fund).  Jennifer specializes in counseling on careers in the public sector, including government positions and alternative careers.  She is also available for resume and cover letter review.  Jennifer received her B.A. from Florida State University and her J.D. from St. Thomas University School of Law and is a member of the Florida Bar. Angela Geter, Recruiting / Reciprocity Coordinator, organizes recruiting programs.  Angela assists employers, students, and alumni, including coordinating on-campus interviews, scheduling appointments to meet with the career services counselors, posting job openings, and processing reciprocity requests.  Angela earned a B.A. and M.A. from St. Thomas University.  (305) 623-2351 • ageter@stu.edu
