Professor Roza Pati Invited to Contribute Expertise on Human Trafficking During White House Organized Meeting in Bucharest

St. Thomas Law Professor, Roza Pati, was invited by the U.S. Embassy in Romania to participate in the meeting “End Modern Slavery,” organized by the White House in Bucharest during the visit of Vice President Joe Biden in Romania, on May 21, 2014. The anti-trafficking meeting was convened by the Second Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden.

In addition to participating in this meeting, Professor Pati taught a course on human trafficking law and policy at the Romanian-American University in Bucharest and met with numerous governmental and non-governmental actors involved in combating modern slavery, including the Director of the National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Mr. Romulus-Nicolae Ungureanu.

Professor Pati also visited the only independent shelter for human trafficking survivors and met with several survivors of human trafficking.
