St. Thomas Law Alumna, Schuyler A. Smith, Named One of Top 40 Black Leaders in Miami-Dade County

The Miami Herald/Legacy Magazine 40 Under 40 Black Leaders special section featured one of our own in their most recent edition.

St. Thomas Law Alumna, Schuyler A. Smith, ‘09, was featured as one of the Top 40 black leaders in Miami-Dade county.  Every year, Legacy magazine features top achievers in the African American community who share a commitment to business success, personal growth and community involvement.

Schuyler received her J.D. in 2009 from St. Thomas University School of Law and is in her fourth year of practice as an Associate Attorney at the law firm of Hamilton, Miller & Birthisel. She represents corporate, medical, and hospitality entities; handling matters stemming from wrongful death, mass tort and class actions, sexual assault claims, labor and employment, medical malpractice suits, product liability actions, excursion liabilities, negligent security claims, premises liability claims, and claims asserted under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

Schuyler is also active in the community. She currently serves as Director of the Dade County Bar Young Lawyers Section, and as an 11th Circuit Representative on the Board of Governors for the Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar. Schuyler is Past President of the Caribbean Bar Association and is licensed to practice in State and Federal courts in Florida and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
