St. Thomas Law Professor Lends Expertise to New York Times Article

St. Thomas Law Professor Marcia Narine was recently interviewed by the New York Times reporter Noam Cohen, regarding her research on corporate responsibility;  specifically whether a corporation’s decision related to health law, the environment and social impact motivates consumer choices.  Professor Narine discusses the modern mobile apps like Buycott, that have been designed to help consumers research companies on certain issues and decide whether to spend money with that company.

You can read more about the issue from Professor Narine’s recent blog post on the Business Law LawProfs blog that discusses it in more detail here. One of the issues reporter Cohen asked about and is discussed in the blog post is whether the new educated consumer, armed with apps that make it easier to obtain information on a corporation’s social impact, will motivate corporations to make different policy decisions.
