St. Thomas Law dominates Nova Closing Argument Mock Trial Competition
Congratulations to the members of the St. Thomas Law Mock Trial team who dominated the Nova Closing Argument Mock Trial Competition at the Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law Center on Saturday, March 17, and Sunday, March 18, 2012. St. Thomas Law took home the trophies for first and second place, as well as overall best team.
Seventy students from law schools statewide, including 16 from St. Thomas Law, had one week to prepare closing arguments and deliver them in competition. Five students from St. Thomas Law advanced to the quarter finals.
Both finalists, Sean Ford and Ian Ward, were from St Thomas Law with Mr. Ford winning the competition and being named “Best Closer” and Mr. Ward receiving a Finalist award. Based on the results of preliminary rounds, St. Thomas Law also won the Best Team Award.
