STU Welcomes 2014 Lead Now Students
Monsignor Casale welcomed the incoming students participating in the 2014 Miniaci Family Lead Now Summer Institute on Friday, June 27, 2014. To enhance the creative portion of the programming, the students were introduced to the Archbishop John C. Favalora Archive and Museum and the Rev. Jorge A. Sardiñas Gallery by Susan Buzzi, Photography Instructor. Following the introductory remarks, the students enjoyed a tour of the museum and galleries led by Prof. Pedro A. Figueredo, Director of the Archive & Museum. The artworks from the University Permanent Art Collection and the Catholic heritage objects on exhibit served to motivate and to inspire the students. Also welcoming the group were Monica Hilversum-Perez, Dual Enrollment & Academic Support Specialist, Prof. Craig Reese of the School of Business, and Yisel Cabrera, Alumni Director.
The Miniaci Family Lead Now Summer Institute and the Fernandez Fellowship Program are dedicated to ensuring that talented high school students have the opportunity to develop their leadership skills with the goal of succeeding in college and becoming effective professional community leaders.
