Dr. Scott Malinconico is a faculty member in the School of Science and Technology at Saint Thomas University. He earned his PhD in the field of Biochemistry from the Department of Biochemistry, Pennsylvania State University with major research in cardiac biochemistry and physiology. Dr. Malinconico spent 23 years in the Biomedical industry holding positions in Research and Development, Quality Control and Manufacturing. In 2005, Dr. Malinconico joined the faculty at St. Thomas. Dr. Malinconico teaches courses in the areas of biology, biochemistry and chemistry for undergraduate students covering from entry level to upper division subjects. Dr. Malinconico is currently the program adviser for Forensic Science, a specialization within either the Biology, or Chemistry degrees. Dr. Malinconico is a member of various scientific societies, and is an active member of a number of University committees.
Research and Scholarly Interests
Dr. Malinconico’s current research interest is in the area of bacteriophages and their use in gene manipulation.
