Comparative Law 804 (3 credits)
This course will summarize and explain, beginning with a historical point of view, the two major legal traditions in the West: the "Civil Law Tradition" and the "Common Law Tradition." Concentration will be placed on certain "models" which are typical and representative of various legal systems within these two traditions. Attention will also be given to the European Union and the European rights systems, as well as the United Nations Charter on Human Rights.
