Position Overview:

The Dean of the College of Graduate and Adult Programs serves as the leader of the academic and administrative programs in the College. The Dean will serve as the academic innovator searching and creating relevant programs that are needed in today’s adult market. Reporting to the Provost, the dean will be responsible for creating a comprehensive academic and enrollment management program that will take the current STU offerings and position STU for enrollment growth.


Administrative Responsibilities:

As the dean of the program, the responsibilities of designing effective marketing and enrollment management strategy is key. STU currently has undergraduate, graduate and doctoral online programs and on the main campus. The dean will direct and be responsible for recruitment and enrollment goals, ensure that the marketing of graduate and adult programs are competitive. The dean will oversee and direct all communications goals for new and returning students. STU has a unique advantage of offering programs internationally particularly in the Caribbean, Central and South America.


The university is positioned for growth of all adult and online programs. The ability to define niche programs and articulate the STU advantage is crucial in this competitive market. Data analysis of growing trends and current delivery systems that meet the needs of working adults is imperative for enrollment growth. Design of retention systems to retain adult students is of great importance.


Faculty Responsibilities:

The Dean will provide faculty selection and evaluation, work collaboratively with the Provost to establish academic and curricular policy of the division and lead the design and implementation of a strategic plan for the College of Graduate and Adult Programs. The dean will monitor, gather, analyze and report data regularly to the President and the President’s Cabinet.


The Dean will work closely with the Provost to grow a graduate portfolio of programs that will insure enrollment growth. The dean will hire, train and evaluate the faculty in the division. Assist in the data collection and goals for SACS and work collaboratively with the president and provost to bring STU graduate and adult programs to the next level.


Other Duties:

The Dean will take direction from the President and Provost to meet all assigned objectives.   The ability to work closely with Career Services to establish helpful professional workshops and job placement initiatives to improve outcomes for the College of Graduate and Adult Programs.


Qualifications for Application:

The ideal candidate will have an earned doctoral degree from an accredited institutions(preferred), a proven track record of building enrollment and retention for graduate and adult programs and an abundance of personal initiative. The ability to manage multiple priorities is essential. A background of

advocacy for graduate and adult programs and the ability to lead faculty is important. Previous experience in this position at a faith based institution is highly desirable.
