STU & Catholic Schools Honor Saint-To-Be John Paul II
The Fernandez Family Center was full to capacity November 5 when the 1st Class Relics of Saint-to-be John Paul II were received on campus. The event (which brought 40 buses from Catholic schools and was sponsored by the Archdiocese of Miami) was the first ever gathering of Catholic students (8th grade, high schools, and colleges) to honor the beloved Pontiff, who established World Youth Day and touched so many in his years serving the Universal Church in the See of Peter. Remembering his continuous concern and ongoing addresses to world’s youth and his affection to young people, the Office of Campus Ministry at St. Thomas University, directed by Rev. Luis Rivero, organized a youth rally, holy Mass, and an educational and spiritual program that was also fun-filled, to continue his legacy.
