A native Miamian, Dr. Robin Cox- Lovett, humbly attributes any success that she may have to The Favor of God. Dr. Lovett graduated from Miami Carol City Sr. High, located in Miami Gardens, Florida. Furthering her education she graduated with honors from Bethune-Cookman University in Daytona Beach, FL, and received her Juris Doctor Degree from Howard University School of Law in Washington, D.C. Although her primary focus is teaching Criminal Justice, she also enjoys Entertainment Law. She had been both Counsel and Legal Coach for BlackBaby Inc. of Houston, Texas. This is the parent company of “2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2014 “Grammy Winning Producer/Writer” Bryan-Michael Cox.
Dr. Lovett has practiced law in Texas, and is also licensed in Federal Courts. She has taught at the collegiate levels in both Texas and Florida. This year marks her 16th year of employment at St. Thomas University. Dr. Lovett’s greatest satisfaction is achieved by “refocusing student’s who may have gotten off track and need academic and/or a little surrogate paternal guidance.” When that student succeeds, I have succeeded in helping that student embrace their future potential. “I feel as proud as their parents at my student’s graduation.”
Understanding the economical challenges that prevent academic success for many, Dr. Lovett’s goal is to generate a Scholarship Foundation with perpetual funds to help finance the education of underprivileged students and to financially assist them in reaching their academic goals.
In her spare time Dr. Lovett enjoys traveling and spending time with her family.
Dr. Lovett was prominently featured in the February 2004 Issue; St. Thomas University, Undergraduate Exchange Newsletter of the Office of Undergraduate Studies & Planning and Evaluation. Faculty Profile, pg. 3
